How to use

The database is structured around three primary entry points: Publications, Films and People. You may access the database from any page by clicking on Database in the navigation menu. Then choose the appropriate entry point to explore the data.

Each entry point will present an interactive table of records you may open by clicking on the blue ID located within the first column.

To access tables and details, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Database section from the navigation menu. Select the appropriate entry point: Publications, Films, or People.
  2. View records. Each section displays an interactive table. Apart from opening individual records, you can also use the search and filter options to find specific entries. Records are displayed 10 per page - use the dropdown menu at the bottom to increase the number of displayed records per page or navigate through the pages using the pagination controls.
  3. Open a detailed view of a record by clicking on its blue ID in the table. Here you will find additional information about the record, including metadata, links to related entities and, where available, images of the item.
  4. Traverse between related records using the links provided in the detailed view. Within detail pages, linked films, publications and people are displayed, allowing for easy navigation between related content. You may want to use the interactive search capabilities of the tables displayed here, too, to find specific entries across all sections.

Working with the interactive tables

To make the most of the interactive tables, consider using the following functionalities:

Column sorting:
Click on the column headers to sort the records by that column. Click again to reverse the sort order.

Global search:
Use the search box on the right above the table to quickly filter all columns at once.

Custom search builder:
Click Add Condition to build column-specific filters. A new row will appear, allowing you to select the column, condition, and value for your filter. Multiple conditions can be combined to create more complex queries utilizing AND/OR logic.

Creating and saving search states:
Once you have applied your desired filters and sorting, you can save this view for future use. Click on Create State to save the current configuration. You can name your state and access it later from the Saved States dropdown menu.1

Export options:
Above each table, there are options to export the displayed data in various formats, such as CSV or Excel.

What you’ll see on detail pages

When opening an individual entry the layout will include several sections. These vary depending on the type of record:

Publication pages:
Metadata is presented in labeled boxes at the top of the page. Below this, you may find a gallery of images related to the publication. Following the images, there may be additional details such as films or people associated with the publication.

Film pages:
At the top, metadata is presented in labeled boxes similar to publication pages. Below this, you may find a table listing related publications. This is followed by an interactive table of variations if the entry is an original film, allowing you to explore different versions and adaptations. If you are looking at a variation already, this section will only link back to the original release.

Person pages:
These pages include some details about the individual, such as their profession. Below that, you may find a table of related publications.
